We know the pain and stress that answering Yes to any of these questions can cause in our lives. It's real
and it is everywhere. It doesn't care about age, nationality, race or religion. You don't have to be 300
pounds or 100 pounds to recognize it. Rich or poor. Have a partner or not. It's stress and pain that most
of us share. That some of us even enslave ourselves to.

In April of 2004 I was living in deep depression and drowned under the weight of my thoughts. I was
secluded from people and carrying a Bulimia of seven years which just kept getting worse. Thanks to a
TV show about anorexic and bulimic women I was able to finally admit to myself and my family that I
could not live like this any longer. I desperately started seeking help and it came one day while having
dinner with my friend Simone.  She told me about a wonderful tool she was using to live more peacefully.  

This tool is
The Work of Byron Katie. Two months after this dinner I attended a two day workshop with
Byron Katie in Amsterdam and for the first time in my life understood that I could heal my pain without
depending on anyone else. The Work is a process of Four Questions and a Turnaround. Doing The Work I
have lost my most painful weight: the one of my mind. This was the weight that was hurting me, depressing
me and making me think that to be happy all I needed was to lose weight.

The ground-breaking realization for me was to see that all the painful and stressful thoughts were the
ones that made me sick. Feel incomplete. Most of the time they were thoughts that had nothing to do with
my body or overweight. All the thoughts in my life that caused me stress about my past, my family,
romantic relationships, success, work, my life expectations, my eternal wish of making everyone love me,
my worries about other people's opinions. The Work taught me that the opinion that really mattered was
my own. What I say about myself. What I think about myself.
